Every year on 18 July – Nelson Mandela’s birthday – City Sightseeing South Africa joins the call by the Nelson Mandela Foundation to honour Madiba’s legacy. City Sightseeing South Africa, along with millions of South Africans, marks the day with a gesture of solidarity with humanity as a step towards a global movement for good.

This year is no different – in honour of Nelson Mandela International Day, City Sightseeing is calling on the public to nominate someone they feel deserves a fantastic day out.

Visit https://apps.facebook.com/my-contests/etqlev to enter by submitting the name of the person you nominate, the person’s city (Cape Town or Johannesburg) and why you feel he or she should win. Each winning “Pay it forward” nomination will receive a set of tickets to explore Johannesburg or Cape Town on a City Sightseeing bus. Nominations close at 6pm on 18 July (Mandela Day) and tickets are valid until 15 September.

Sixty-seven nominated recipients will receive a set of two one-day tickets, which are valid for all tours.

In Cape Town, the winners will tour through the culturally diverse Mother City with a fun and educational tour of the monuments, statues, landmarks and museums that celebrate Madiba’s legacy. City Sightseeing Cape Town runs four exciting routes – the Red City Tour, Yellow Downtown Tour, Purple Wine Tour and the Blue Mini Peninsula Tour – which stop at renowned spots like the V&A Waterfront, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, Groot Constantia and Hout Bay. The City Sightseeing Red City Tour is undoubtedly the best way to get to Table Mountain – one of the internationally recognised New7Wonders of Nature.

The City Sightseeing Joburg Red City Tour provides a unique way of exploring this fascinating and culturally and historically rich city. Stops along this route, which will begin at the Gautrain Park Station, include: Gandhi Squarethe Carlton Centre, the James Hall Museum of Transport, the Apartheid Museum and Gold Reef City, the Mining District, Newtown Precinct, the Origins Centre at Wits and Constitution Hill.

“This is such an awesome opportunity for us to honour Nelson Mandela’s humanitarian spirit by creating an opportunity for people to recognise and reward one another,” says Mandi Jarman, City Sightseeing’s sales and marketing manager.
